Parent Child Interaction Therapy

Are you the parent of a toddler or young child who is showing strong emotions? Have you tried multiple different strategies, none of which feel like they are “working?”

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based, specialized behavior management program designed for families with young children experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties. PCIT supports parents and caregivers in building a stronger relationship with their child while also teaching strategies to manage their child’s behaviors, focusing on increasing their positive behaviors.

Dr. Eriksson is currently offering virtual PCIT for children ages 2.5 years old 5 years old. Treatment will occur through the comfort of your own home which can support generalization of the skills learned. PCIT uses “coaching” where you will play with your child while the therapist provides in the moment feedback (using Bluetooth headphones and a video camera) to help your child improve their skills and to help you manage challenging behaviors that occur. As a child progresses through PCIT, behaviors reduce both at home and in other settings, such as daycare or the classroom. Additional information about PCIT can be found directly on their website and can be accessed below.
