Cogmed Working Memory

Working memory is the cognitive function responsible for keeping information online, manipulating it, and using it in your thinking. Working memory is necessary for staying focused on a task, blocking out distractions, and keeping you updated and aware about what is going on around you. We use our working memory constantly in daily life to perform efficiently and effectively in academic and social settings. Cogmed aims to improve working memory.

The Cogmed program is a computer-based solution for attention problems caused by poor working memory. Cogmed combines cognitive neuroscience with an innovative computer game design and professional support to deliver substantial and lasting benefits.

The process typically includes a parent intake meeting, a Start Up Session, 5 weeks of intensive training completed on a computer or iPad at home, weekly check-ins with Dr. Granetz on the phone with data monitoring, a Wrap Up Session, and a 6 Month Follow Up meeting. The program also includes Cogmed Extension Training for one year. Cogmed is available for preschool aged children through adulthood.
